The Protest
Bloggers from around the world converged upon Mediocre Travis' home in Brisbane, Australia to protest his involvement in the creation of MMAA, the Mental Madge Addicts Anonymous organization. Protesters were upset that Mediocre Travis and his followers have accused the author of the Connie Francis blog as being the infamous "Mental Madge," the alleged fake blogger responsible for madonnasthoughts.blogspot.com. "I'm upset at Mediocre Travis and his whole MMAA bunch," Anita Mann replied. "They keep speading these lies about the authenticity of these blogs. I don't understand why they are encouraging people to boycott these sites." Hundreds of protestors chanted "Leave Connie alone" and "Connie is real" numerous times. "I don't know who this Connie person is.....Never heard of her myself. Life is a paradox!" exclaimed M. After an hour of protesting, the crowd was sad to learn that Mediocre Travis was not home; he was working. This not dampen the spirits of the eclectic throng.

The Return of My Secret Admirer
Guess what I got today?! My secret admirer has been silent for several days now.....until this afternoon. A package arrived for me today at work and a wonderful surpise was inside! A 45 record of Madonna's Papa Don't Preach. How cool is that? I showed it my bird.....He was interested for a little while, but then he became more interested in his Rubik's Cube and his Christmas toy. I forgot to change the number on the Christmas calendar before I took the picture. Let me know if you think the pictures are cute! I think they are! :)
Who is Connie Francis? (The Real Connie)
Connie Francis is the prototype for the female pop singer of today. At the height of her chart popularity in the late '50s and early '60s, Connie Francis was unique as a female recording artist, amassing record sales equal to and surpassing those of many of her post-rock era male contemporaries. Ultimately, she branched into other styles of music -- big band, country, ethnic, and more. She still challenges Madonna as the biggest-selling female recording artist of all time. Like Madonna, Concetta Rosemarie Franconero comes from an Italian American background. Francis started her music career at three, playing an accordion bought for her by her contractor father George. Her father's dream was not for his daughter to become a star, but for Francis to become independent of men as an adult with her own accordion school of music. At age ten, she was accepted on Startime, a New York City television show that featured talented child singers and performers. The show had no one else who played an accordion. Its host, legendary TV talent scout Arthur Godfrey, had difficulty pronouncing her name and suggested something "easy and Irish," which turned into Francis. After three weeks on Startime , the show's producer and Francis' would-be manager advised her to dump the accordion and concentrate on singing. Francis performed weekly on Startime for four years.
After being turned down by almost every record label she approached, 16-year-old Francis signed a record contract with MGM, only because one of the songs on her demo, "Freddy," also happened to be the name of the president's son. "Freddy" was released in June 1955 as the singer's first single. After a series of flop singles, on October 2, 1957, she undertook what was to be her last session for MGM. Francis had recently accepted a pre-med scholarship to New York University and was contemplating the end of her career as a singer. Having recorded two songs, she thanked the technicians and musicians, hoping not to have to have to record the third song her father had in mind, an old tune from 1923. After a false start, she sang it in one take. When Dick Clark played "Who's Sorry Now" on American Bandstand, he told its eight million viewers that Connie Francis was "a new girl singer that is heading straight for the number one spot."
"Who's Sorry Now" was the first of Francis' long string of worldwide hits. By 1967, she had sold 35 million world wide, with 35 U.S. Top 40 hits, and three number ones ("Everybody's Somebody's Fool," "My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own," "Don't Break the Heart That Loves You," and "Stupid Cupid" ) to her credit. 1963's "In the Summer of His Years," written as a tribute to the assassinated John F. Kennedy, remains one of the earliest known charity records, with proceeds donated to dependents of the policemen shot during the incident.
Francis has an affinity for languages and was one of the first pop singers to record her songs in other languages. 1961's title song from the movie Where the Boys Are was recorded in six languages. She starred in four (nondescript) films, sang voice-overs in movies for actresses who could not sing, and was a guest star on innumerable TV shows. Music critics who didn't take kindly to Francis' pop music years were eventually won over by her versatility. Why Connie?
Why is my life a Connie Francis song? My first memory is that of a record player.....For you youngsters out there, before there were CD players....before there were MP3 players and Ipods, we had record players that played vinyl albums and 45 rpm records. My mother was a product of the 1950s. When she graduated from high school, she worked as a secretary. Using her weekly salary, she had a routine that she repeated week after week.....she went to the record store and bought a 45 rpm record.....a single. Before she married my father, she bought quite a few records. My favorite record was "Who's Sorry Now" by Connie Francis. She used to let me play her records on her record player when I was maybe 4 or 5 years old. She was brave.....but I never broke one of her discs. My first memory is playing records on her record player and you know what record I played---you guessed it...Connie's.
As I grew older, I grew out of Connie....and never really listened to her music for years. When I was in college, I was looking in the discount bin at Tower Records and I came across a Connie Francis Greatest Hits CD. I bought it and rediscovered Connie in all her glory. A few years later, I even bought her 4 CD set. During this time, I noticed that my daily routine could always be described by a Connie Francis song. At first, it was sort of a joke between me and my friends.....but then it really became scary. Literally every day of my life could be described by one of her many songs.
I sometimes wonder if that first memory....the first recollection of my earliest life that I have....is it ironic....is it telling that the first song I remember is "Who's Sorry Now?" What am I sorry for? Do I have something to be sorry for? Am I sorry? Do I have regrets? I am so proud of you.....You love me....you really love me......Sally Field took possession of me for a little while. I am not about hatred, but I apologize if some of you misunderstood one of my recent posts.
I made a comment to Mediocre Travis, Alcina, and others......and I used the word "haters" in reference to people who have made negative comments about me and my friend from the Madonna blog. That slang word means many different things.....when I used it, I did not mean to imply that all of you hate me. I was trying to be cute in my post and I think that some thought that I really believed that they literally hated me. I did not believe that at all.
Anyway.....I am one who believes that you do not retaliate, do not hate; I believe that you show compassion to all people even if they are about to kill you.
I only have love for you all.....I am sorry you believe things about me that are untrue....but I accept your ignorance about the matter. I will have to earn your trust....and someday, we'll be together....together in the sense that we will all understand who I truly am.....
I am about to go to bed...but I leave you with last thought:

As it comes closer to my mind, love radiates from every point of my being. I become fully alive.

More La, La, La by Massiel!
Just kidding.....but I have been intrigued by these Spanish entries in the Eurovision contest. This songbird is Salome. I think there are 4 harmonic modulations in this song....4 in a row! Wow... ! I love the song!!! In 1969, there was a four-way tie in the Eurovision song contest. This was one of the winners. Salome....Massiel...Madonna?

When You Come Home Again
I'm back!!!!!!!!!!
I had a nice short working vacation this weekend. It was so nice to get away from it all! I am just checking email at this point and I am about to unpack. Some interesting things took place while I was away. I will log back on in a few hours and catch you up on things.
Before I go, it seems like some bloggers have been talking negatively about me and my blog. Some bloggers are also saying some very mean things about the madonnasthoughts.blogspot.com website.
I have come back from my trip with a whole new perspective on things.....
I learned this weekend that loving our neighbors-or our enemies, for that matter-has nothing at all to do with morals or ethics. Love is a formidable weapon in furthering our own cause in life, which is simply to gain true joy and fulfillment. In other words, we benefit. Love is a weapon of Light, and it has the power to eradicate all forms of darkness. That is the key. When we offer love even to our enemies, we destroy their darkness and hatred - which is the reason they became our enemies in the first place! What's more, we cast out the darkness inside ourselves. What's left are two souls who now recognize the spark of divinity they both share.
I offer only love to Alcina, Mediocre Travis, Ms. Bitch, and all of the other "haters" who have spoken so negatively about me and others. I offer you unconditional love. What is unconditional love?????
Unconditional love is accepting someone as he or she is, without judgment. And it doesn’t just “happen”. It is a mountain we must climb, constantly fighting our compassion fatigue, restricting our desire to give up, drawing on inner-strengths we knew nothing of, and looking to the peak even when we’ve been knocked down to our hands and knees. This is unconditional love.
I offer it to you all...I hope that you will accept my gift.
I hope to hear from you either here on my blog or on your own. I don't expect to get the same gift back in return. I offer my unconditional love to you all freely.

Vacation

I am about to go out of town for a short weekend getaway! I am bringing my laptop with me, but I doubt that I will post anything until Sunday (or maybe even Monday). I did not get any packages today....I still don't know the identity of my secret admirer. I was devastated to learn that Mediocre Travis was not my secret admirer! I wonder if Alcina or Mrs. Bitch sent me those cool items! Brad was fired for stealing office supplies....so if He was my Secret Friend....he won't have money to send me anything now.

La La La Re-re-re-Revisited
Yes....I am obsessed with La, La, La.....Maybe my next secret admirer present will be a LaLaLa single (if one exists). I have a lot of respect for a woman who can win a contest singing one word over and over! I have learned a bit more about Massiel....I could learn more if I knew Spanish....but "asi es la vida."
Massiel was born María de los Ángeles Santamaría on August 2, 1947 in Madrid. Her tailor-turned-talent agent father exposed his young daughter to the world of show business, regularly arranging for Massiel to perform at celebrity-filled cocktail parties. Although Massiel had initially planned to pursue a career in dance, she was to become a musical phenomenon in Spain- an icon always remembered for bringing Spain its first victory at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1968. Massiel introduced a more mature, serious side to Spanish pop that earned her the title of "The First Rebel Singer of Madrid." The self-penned "Dí Que No" was her first hit in a string of many for the Novola label, who represented her until 1971. She won Eurovision in 1968 with "La La La,"a song written by Manuel de la Calva and Ramón Arcusa that has become one of the most popular Spanish songs of all time. In the summer of 1968 she suffered a throat ailment, but came out of it with an added strength in her lower register. Massiel's hits include "Rosas En El Mar" and "¡Aleluya! No. 1," both released in 1967 and written by prolific songwriter Luís Eduardo Aute. At the height of her success, singer Tom Jones dubbed Massiel " the number one singer of the number two language."She continued to record music well into the early nineties and dabbled in stage acting and film. In the late sixties, the Spanish press used the now overused term "diva" to describe Massiel's personal style and musical talent. To which Massiel responded- "I believe a person only starts to feel like a diva when people say that she is one."

Walking Happy
Yet another Connie Francis song describes a day in my life! I am truly "Walking Happy." First, my friend Maranga took me out to lunch today. That was so sweet of her. We went to a sushi bar and I love sushi. I ordered a Spicy Salmon Roll and had some miso soup. Yummy! As M says, "It was da bomb!" HaHa!
Second, I learned that my ex is in the hospital after being in a car accident. Seems like he hit a cow that had wandered into a roadway. His precious little Miata was totalled! Hehe....There is such a thing as karma.
Last, another mystery package came to me today! I opened the box up----and guess what I saw! You guessed it.....my secret admirer had sent me Madonna's Sex book! Can you imagine such a gift. This guy must be really trying to impress me. I cannot believe I actually own a Madonna Sex book. I still cannot figure out who sent it to me. Did Brad send it? My ex is in the hospital so I know he did not send it. Did Anthony, the cute guy who works in our office send it? Did Mediocre Travis send it? I am puzzled......but I am "walking happy."

Angel Eyes
Robert Pettrick is a graphic artist in New York who makes ambigrams. His first "symmetrick" as he calls them was for the rock group "Angel", and it still stands as one of his best. Robert's work was inspired by meeting John Langdon; you can read the story on his web site. You can even order a t-shirt with his classis mirror-symmetric design on the word "nonsense". Good stuff.

La La La Re-re-revisited
I learned some interesting things about Massiel and LA LA LA on the Internet:
- Originally, Spanish representative Joan Manuel SERRAT was going to perfom the song La, La, La in Catalan, to protest Spanish dictator FRANCO. His initiative was not appricated by government officials and he was withdrawn from the contest. He was replaced by Massiel, who sang the same song in Spanish and won.
- Lesley Gore ("It's My Party" "You Don't Own Me" "Maybe I Know") did a cover of this song.
- It was the first of Spain's two wins in the Contest so far.
- The song was composed by Ramon Arcusa and Manuel de la Calva, otherwise known as the singing duo called Dúo Dinámico.
- The song itself is controversial for three reasons. Joan Manuel Serrat, the original performer for the song, sang it in Catalan. The Franco government would not allow that. Hence the selection of Massiel to perform the song. Catalan would not be heard in the Contest until the 2004 debut performance of Andorra.
- Lyrically, the song is a very positive number.
- Massiel sings about things she is thankful for, such as being given life and walking through the world.
- The British entry performed by Cliff RICHARD came second, just a single point behind the Spanish entry.
- There has to be over 100 La's in the song! (Has anyone counted them yet?)
My Most Favourite Thing
I have some exciting news to share with you all. When I was at work today, I unexpectedly received a package....There was no return address! I thought it was very odd.....I wondered if Ms. Bitch was sending me a letter bomb! I opened up my package and you will not believe what was inside! A blue TRUE BLUE 45 record! I had just talked about this on my blog yesterday...and someone sent me one! I almost passed out......I jumped up and down at my desk. I was acting like a little girl.Now the question is this....Who sent it? There was no return address or note! Did my ex send it? Did Mediocre Travis send it to me? (I have been putting a lot of dedications to him on my blog---hehe!) Did Madonna herself send it to me? Do I have a secret admirer? So many thoughts have been going through my mind.
With my luck, this guy named Brad I work with sent it to me. Bless his heart.....Brad has some problems. He lives with his mother. He revealed to us last week that he never uses a towel or washcloth when he takes a shower. He only uses his hand and a hairdryer. NASTY!

Come Rain or Come Shine
I just got home from work. It has been raining all day....It is quite gloomy outside. But I open the door, and my beloved bird is there to greet me! YAH!
He loves sunflower seeds.....but I wonder if my bird is male or female? How do you tell? Do birds have sex organs? I hated Biology in school....and I am too lazy to look it up. Anyone know about how to determine the sex of a bird?
I think I am finally over my ex.....Now that I have my bird, I am contemplating whether I am going to just remain single for a while OR if I want to re-enter the dating scene. I hate bars...and there are no dating prospects at church or at work. I could try one of the online sites. Where do you all meet dates? I could save up some money and fly to Australia so I could meet a certain someone...hehehe.
One of my co-workers really gets on my nerves. She wears the same blouse day after day. She is not poor......but she must wash (I hope) this same shirt every night so that she can wear it the next day. It is sad. I have been tempted to go buy her some clothes. I try not to say anything about it, but I have some co-workers who are ruthless. They call her "white trash" and "Britney." I feel sorry for her.
I called the author of the alleged "fake" Madonna blog this afternoon. We caught up on things. I did not bring up all the posts that I have read on the Internet about how the site is fake. I think people would be really suprised to know who is "the force behind the power."
I am about to get something to eat. By the way, I have lost 20 pounds! YAH me!

For AB, M, Mediocre Travis, my Bird, and "Mr. Body"
This is dedicated to different people for very different reasons. Enjoy!
La La La Revisited
Who is Massiel? I have been infatuated with this Youtube video for a couple of months now. It is one of the most bizarre things I have ever watched in my life. Somehow, this song won the Eurovision song contest in 1968 with a chorus like "la la la la la la la la la." What creativity! I don't think I have ever heard a song with a chorus of a single word repeating itself over and over!
And then there is Massiel herself! I take it that she is an icon in Spain....a legend! But take a look at her mouth during this performance. Her mouth barely moves! And then there is this one scene where she puts her hand up to the side of her head...as if to say...."Why am I singing this awful song? Who wrote this crap?"
I will have to admit---the first part of the song is very dramatic.....but then we get to all the La La La's. How she sings all those LA LA LA's without moving her mouth bothers me. After the first chorus, we hear another dramatic part of the song. Then--Massiel gets into the chorus...wailing away on the LA LA LA's.......Then there are the dramatic last three LaLaLa's.
This song is the craziest performance ever! And it won Eurovision! How? How in the heck did this song and this performance win anything?
This got me to thinking----What would be some crazy wins in today's music scene? Here are a few of my ideas......
- Mooriah Carey wins an Oscar for Glitter 2.
- Amy Winehouse is given the SECRETARY OF DEFENSE COMMUNITY DRUG AWARENESS AWARD.
- Britney Spears is awarded the National Mother of the Year Award.
- Clay Aiken is awarded the National Man of the Year Award. (I am so bad!)
- William Hung wins a Grammy for Record of the Year.
I am tired....so I will have to come up with some more awards later!
This Massiel woman.....you have to give her props......She takes a song filled with more LA LA LA's that any Partridge Family song ever had.....and makes it her own....and somehow she wins Eurovision. It makes you wonder what the other songs sounded like that year! But the song is a bit catchy for some reason. Maybe Madonna or Cher will redo it someday.

I got my bird back! I learned that if I made not attempt to ever contact my ex, I would regain posession of my bird.....and here is the proof that he is back with me! I am so excited! Life truly is a mystery. I just know that it's a miracle. It's a true, blue spectacle.......a miracle come true. We're together, baby, I was goin' crazy till a miracle came through! What Kind of Fool Am I? (Optical Illusions)
I love the optical illusions on this web site. They are so cool! By the way Alcina, the author of the madonnasthoughts.blogspot.com was never threatened with a lawsuit. I am not the author of that site....by the way....but there is a long story behind why the site was closed down and then reopened. Was it for publicity? Maybe.....Was it to make more money? Possibly......was it due to a lawsuit? No.......That is about all I can say about the matter at this point.
Whether you believe the site is real or fake, it is well written and very entertaining....you must admit that! Why is it so hard to believe that Madonna would have a personal blog? Rosie and other stars have one! Could it be that the blog was becoming too real for her Madgesty? Could it be that the blog was taking up too much of her precious time? Could it be that her Madgesty became tired of some of the "ventilators" ????
All I know is that the creator of the Mariah Carey dartboard and the Queen's English should be given more respect from Madonna fans.....You may not realize who you are insulting and degrading.

I just got back from church.....I am in such a great mood! I just wanted to let all of you know that I am doing OK. After the terrible Saturday that I lived through, I am doing great. I went to a seafood restaraunt and ate a delicious shrimp feast. I spent too much money today shopping....but I deserved it on my day on rest! I will worry about the credit card bills later. I dread going to work tomorrow...Can you all believe the weekend is almost over? I would appreciate your prayers during these stressful times. Cryin Time
When I feel down, I watch Sybil. My worst day is never as bad as the life Sybil led. It makes me feel better. I know that "they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder and that tears are only rain to make love grow." But you know......I'm not going to settle for second best! What a day I have had today. First, I have been bombarded with thousands of emails begging me to reveal the true identity of the author of the madonnasthoughts.blogspot.com website. Is it Madonna? Is it a freak? It is one of her assistants? It is a drag queen? Questions...questions....questions. Did they not read my blog? The answer is there!
Second, I have been insulted by a fellow blogger who is kinda cute. Well---I think he is hot...but anyway....I paid the guy a compliment and I am called a stalker! My heart just broke in two. But as Connie sang, "I'll bounce right back again."
Third, I went to the store today and ran into my ex. What a jerk. He not only owes me money, but he won't let me see my sweet little Sonny bird. Sonny was our bird....a sun conure. He was so cute.....and now my ex won't let me see him! I was told that I must never call him again and that I am not allowed within 100 feet of his home....especially at 2:00 in the morning when I wanted to get sugar from my little Sonny bird. Well....my ex was in the store.....and he was buying bird food. I almost lost it. I want to give my little Sonny some bird food! I want to rub his feathers. I just tried to get out of the store as soon as I could. I put on my Madonna t-shirt and listened to "Crazy for You" over and over. You see---that was our song! I just laid in bed eating ice cream listening to the Queen.
Fourth, I finally got motivated to do some work and then.......When it rains it pours. I went to do some laundry, and my washing machine died. I won't work. I tried and tried and tried. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. I flipped the circuit breaker and that would not do it. I even prayed to God that it would come on. My prayer beads and Kaballah bracelet would not work. It just would not work. What am I going to do? I cannot afford to buy a washer! What a day I have had today. First, I have been bombarded with thousands of emails begging me to reveal the true identity of the author of the madonnasthoughts.blogspot.com website. Is it Madonna? Is it a freak? It is one of her assistants? It is a drag queen? Questions...questions....questions. Did they not read my blog? The answer is there!
Second, I have been insulted by a fellow blogger who is kinda cute. Well---I think he is hot...but anyway....I paid the guy a compliment and I am called a stalker! My heart just broke in two. But as Connie sang, "I'll bounce right back again."
Third, I went to the store today and ran into my ex. What a jerk. He not only owes me money, but he won't let me see my sweet little Sonny bird. Sonny was our bird....a sun conure. He was so cute.....and now my ex won't let me see him! I was told that I must never call him again and that I am not allowed within 100 feet of his home....especially at 2:00 in the morning when I wanted to get sugar from my little Sonny bird. Well....my ex was in the store.....and he was buying bird food. I almost lost it. I want to give my little Sonny some bird food! I want to rub his feathers. I just tried to get out of the store as soon as I could. I put on my Madonna t-shirt and listened to "Crazy for You" over and over. You see---that was our song! I just laid in bed eating ice cream listening to the Queen.
Fourth, I finally got motivated to do some work and then.......When it rains it pours. I went to do some laundry, and my washing machine died. I won't work. I tried and tried and tried. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. I flipped the circuit breaker and that would not do it. I even prayed to God that it would come on. My prayer beads and Kaballah bracelet would not work. It just would not work. What am I going to do? I cannot afford to buy a washer! When You Wish Upon A Star
I had a dream last night that I was on I Dream of Jeanie! Barbara Eden said she was granting me not one.....not two.....but ten wishes!
After I wished for world peace, my alarm clock went off......Just my luck.
If I could have had those nine additional wishes, I think I would make these wishes:
1. Madonna would make a Christmas album.
2. All evidence of Amy Winehouse's existence would be erased from the history of mankind. (Have I mentioned how much I hate that awful Rehab song?)
3. Mariah Carey would die a cruel and painful death. (My screen name is suxmariahsux!)
4. Judging Amy would return to network TV.
5. I want to meet the Golden Girls.
6. Tanya Tucker will make a comeback!
7. I will lose 250 pounds.
8. My ex will be forced to wed someone like Sybil!
9. Someone will force Madonnasthoughts.blogspot.com to close its site forever!

I have a secret that hundreds (maybe thousands) of people would like to know. I know the identity of the "Fake Madonna" blogger. I know the identity of "Mental Madge." I wonder how long the secret won't be "a secret any more."

Together
I have always known that every aspect of my life can be described by a Connie Francis song. Before there was Madonna, Cher, Britney, and Olivia....there was Connie! Connie was the top female vocalist of the 50s and the 60s! I think there is a psychic connection between Connie's music and my life. During the good times and the bad, my lyrics of my life can be described as one of the hundreds of the classic Connie Francis songs.
